jetset blue colour

edited May 2008 in Games
hi
the spectrum only had 8 colors
in jet set willy the in the room i am sure i have seen this before
there is a blue color that is not cyan or the blue of the speccy
you can see it around the red soldier
how could this be does someone know.
its not putting white and blue together pixel by pixel so you can't see it because the speccy can show only two colors on an 8x8 square and here we have red already.

Can you see this colour on a modern monitor or on a TV screen? If it's the latter then it's probably down to colour-bleed or some other such display idiosyncrasticy.

There's 15 colours on the Spectrum.

Black, Blue, Red, Magenta, Green, Cyan, Yellow White
Bright Blue, Bright Red, Bright Magenta, Bright Green, Bright Cyan, Bright Yellow, Bright White

    (Bright Black is still Black!)

Each attribute cell has an ink colour, a paper colour, a bit for FLASH, and a bit for BRIGHT.

If the bit of BRIGHT is set, then both the colours in the cell will be brighter.

    e.g. to see in BASIC...
PRINT PAPER 1;" ";BRIGHT 1;" " to see normal blue, and bright blue....

Not poor you at! Just shows what a fantastic piece of kit the Speccy is when fans are still discovering new things decades after it was released.

    Ermmm,

    not a very good statement.
I keep on discovering things on my laptop (my old and new).

Today I found that sound over my headphone did not shut down sound over the speakers. So everyone in the train heard my CD playing.

If there is one thing I don't like is hardware not working like I want it.
Unfortunately PC's will do that too many times and then you discover that
in a directory 10 deep a small hidden file is where you must select something that is nowhere discribed.

The ZX Spectrum is than an open book.

Has anyone a screen shots of these rooms? It would be interesting to see the colour discussed, but I am not skilled enough on JSW to try to find the rooms myself.

Thank you, I found the room!

But I did not see the mystical colour? Where in the room is the unusual blue?

When you look at hillelr's location on the left, it says "Attic". So we can conclude he is viewing the room in question from the Attic, which is 2 rooms left of the generator. Hence his view of that room is slightly disturbed by the room in-between, causing him to see a wrong shade of blue in the distance. Case closed.

    hello

about the colour issue in the room"emergancy generator",pavero told me in a e-mail that he was using the wrong colour depth in some of his maps.so the screenshot for that room in the map is the wrong colour as compared to a in game shot(emulated).hope this helps.thank you
